Haiti earthquake, 2010: Flashback

On 12 January 2010 a devastating earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale struck Haiti. Over 222,000 people were killed and over 300,000 injured.

The children that survived remain extremely vulnerable. Some have lost their parents, others were severely injured and most are still traumatised. Even before the earthquake, Haiti’s children were struggling to survive. Nearly a quarter of children were malnourished and over 40% of the country didn't have access to clean water.

UNICEF ve been working with our partners non stop since the earthquake struck to make sure children get medical care, food, shelter, protection and back to school.
